Effective Punishments

This article is in response to a request from a follower about how to discipline an offender effectively, regardless of distance. Pain should not be equated with, as very often, pain is a form of foreplay and should not be confused with punishment. Additionally, many offenders are also masochists, so pain as a punishment may not be appropriate. An offender must understand that the Dominant cares for them and recognize that the penalty is not an angry reaction, but a tool used to encourage improvement.

Many of the following punishments are suitable for both real-life and long-distance relationships. Dominants must reinforce the affection felt for the offender after the sentence has been served. It is critical to ensure the punishment fits the offence committed. Once the disciplinary action is completed, the offender should not repeat the offence, or the punishments will increase in frequency and intensity. Dominants may wish to add penalties that do not include those that are most effective with their submissive(s). Each of these punishments is rated according to its severity.

Effective Punishments
Lines
Severity 1. Selecting this classic requires careful consideration. The act of repetitively writing something has a magical effect of making the writer believe it. A recommended psychological impact of having the errant submissive write is, "My Dominant owns my pleasure, and I will not deny his right to it," instead of "I'm sorry for being a disobedient whore." Many submissives dislike this aspect as it is considered boring.

Clothing
Severity 1. This punishment has variable and sometimes limited effects, but the instance that an offender removes articles of clothing tends to be another form of humiliation. The reverse of making the offender cover up their body can actually be more shameful when including the statement, "You are an embarrassment, and nothing about you appeals to me; cover yourself up."

Corner Time
Severity 1. Faced with a corner, kneeling, standing, or holding ankles was effective in schools for years. The added difficulty of having the offender use their nose to hold a coin against the wall has a very humiliating effect. The inevitable failures resulting in the coin being dropped are a silent reminder of a Dominant's disappointment in the offender. This is a baseline humiliation exercise that embarrasses the submissive, particularly when viewed by others.

Extra Chores
Severity 1. One of the least favourite and fun punishments for most offenders is the drudgery of being assigned extra chores. This reduces the amount of time they would normally spend in more pleasant or fulfilling activities.

Plugging
Severity 1. Placing a plug into the anus or vagina without sexual context for extended amounts of time is uncomfortable. Reinforce the punishment with a trip to the store or a public activity. Offenders dislike the lack of "play" when used as a punishment.

Clamping
Severity 2. This pain punishment also works well at a distance. Clamping while doing other activities is an uncomfortable reminder of the offence. However, to ensure this is not construed as "playtime," select precise areas of the body to clamp. While this is physically painful, it is disliked by most submissives as it also reduces the freedom of movement, but remember this is totally ineffective with masochists.

Essays
Severity 2. Most submissives are not adept at the effort required to write long essays. Having them write down how they failed and its effects can be mentally exhausting for many submissives.

Kneeling
Severity 2. Forcing an offender to their knees reminds them of the importance of obedience. Extended periods of kneeling can lead to increased discomfort over time. The added effectiveness of the classic pain punishment of kneeling naked on grains of rice is remarkable. Offenders often hate this largely due to the immobility and discomfort caused.

Restrictions
Severity 2. This punishment is not practical over a long distance. For example, demanding an offender be early or removing privileges for social media, TV, radio, etc., is like grounding a child. As innocuous as this penalty may sound, it is a significant blow to the offender, who views their limitations as something that brings them great benefit, as it denies them liberties they associate with stolen moments of freedom.

Snapping
Severity 2. An excellent long-distance pain punishment is to have the offender wrap a huge rubber band around a thigh, pull it back several inches, release and repeat. Offenders often dislike this largely due to the discomfort it causes, but remember this is totally ineffective with masochists.

Soaping
Severity 2. A bar of plain soap cut lengthways (Ivory makes a good choice) inserted into an offenders mouth for correcting verbal affronts or their anus or vagina for not being clean is extremely uncomfortable and disconcerting. Offenders dislike this because it harkens back to treating them like disobedient children.

Figging
Severity 3. Have the offenders insert peeled ginger root into their bottom—this type of pain most masochists do not enjoy, and non-masochists hate. The bonus is that, unlike other methods, such as using Icy-Hot, ginger root causes a pain reaction without damaging tissue. Offenders dislike this approach as the effects persist long after the items are removed and the area is cleaned, as the "muscle and nervous memory" can linger for hours. This is excellent for repeat offences.

Shunning
Severity 3. This is the erasure of the offender as an existing entity. It expresses the deep distress a Dominant has without verbal or other action. This punishment requires that all present reinforce this with no acknowledgement or communication occurring. The drawback is that the offender may construe this as a breach of the emotional bonds in a relationship. Offender despise the denial of their existence as they find it emotionally very taunting.

Expulsion
Severity 4. Terminating a relationship before the agreed-upon end date is an irrevocable disciplinary action. It ends the chance for reform and should occur after exhausting all other options. This punishment is only effective when the Dominant ensures there is no way to re-enter the relationship.

Verification
Verification of long-distance punishments is always an issue. Confirmation of these punishments requires supporting evidence, such as videos, pictures, or audio recordings. This verification reinforces the Dominant's presence and ensures the execution of the retribution. The reinforcement helps the offenderunderstand the importance of obedience and the Dominant's commitment to it.
